This is one of the Kumarodaya graded Sinhala readers by L.S.E. Amararatne, a series that has been used to teach the Sinhala language to schoolchildren in Sri Lanka over a long period.
The book has been edited to suit present-day requirements, under the guidance of an advisory panel of scholars headed by Professor Kusuma Karunaratne.
The text is entirely in Sinhala. There is no English translation and no parallel English text, so a reader will need to be able to read Sinhala script, or to be learning it with someone who can. Buyers outside Sri Lanka should take that into account before ordering.
It will be of most use to parents and teachers working through Sinhala with children at this stage of the series, to Sri Lankan families abroad keeping up their children's reading in the language, and to adult learners who want a structured course written for first-language learners rather than a phrasebook approach.
