About this experience
On the evening of 19 August 2026, take your private seat and watch the 2nd Kumbal Perahera wind through the streets of Kandy. Over 90 minutes, elaborately decorated elephants pace past to the beat of traditional drums, while costumed dancers and performers carry the procession forward in a display of Buddhist devotion centred on the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. Your admission fee and reserved seat are included, so you simply arrive and watch.
This segment of the Kandy Esala Perahera is the more traditional, ceremonial phase of the wider festival — less embellished than the later Randoli nights, but rich in ritual significance. Note that a personal guide, food, and drinks are not included. Guests must be aged 12 or above. Lakpura handles your entry and seating so you can focus on the procession itself.
