Step into a private, air-conditioned vehicle at your Sigiriya hotel and head south to Kandy, Sri Lanka's last royal capital. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide leads you to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic — walk through its gilded halls, ornate shrines, and moat-flanked outer walls. Next, stop at local artisan workshops where gem cutters, woodcarvers, and batik makers show their craft up close; pick up a handmade souvenir before you leave. Two 500 ml water bottles per person are provided throughout the day.
The afternoon takes you to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, home to an extraordinary collection of palms, orchids, and giant bamboo spread across 60 hectares. With hotel pickup and drop-off included and a full 12 hours at your disposal, you cover Kandy's cultural highlights at a relaxed pace. Note that entrance tickets to the Temple and Botanical Gardens, meals, and gratuities are not included.
