A Sinhala edition of one of the classical poems of the Kōṭṭe period, prepared by V.D. De Lenarol and published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. The entire text and its accompanying matter are in Sinhala; there is no English translation here, so readers will need to be able to read Sinhala to use it.
The Guttila Kāvyaya is the second of two poetic works of the Kōṭṭe era built on the Jātaka stories. It belongs to the practice, current in that period, of preaching the doctrine in verse, and the poem is composed in that manner.
The work is a prescribed text for higher examinations in Sri Lanka, and this edition is intended for students working through it as well as for general readers of classical Sinhala poetry.
