A Sinhala-language guide to the Dhamma subjects set out in school and Dhamma school syllabuses, compiled by Rev. Porawagama Nalaka Thero. The material is presented plainly and in order, with the aim of making the teaching points clear rather than elaborating on them.
The approach is the practical one of a teacher working to a syllabus: the topics pupils are expected to cover, set down straightforwardly so that they can be followed and revised. Beyond the classroom, it is pitched at anyone who wishes to study Buddhism and would prefer an uncomplicated starting point.
The text is entirely in Sinhala, so a reading knowledge of the language is needed. For families abroad whose children attend Dhamma school, or who are keeping up Sinhala-medium religious study at home, that is the point of it.
