This is a colouring book for young children, published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. as part of a series that shares a single title. The books in the series are told apart by the colour of the cover rather than by a number or a subtitle, and this is the brown one.
The series is made for children in the primary grades. Each page gives a child something to colour — shapes, everyday objects, animals, fruit — and prints the name of the pictured thing in English alongside it. The colouring and the words work together: a child fills in the drawing and, in doing so, meets a simple English word attached to a picture of what it means.
It is a practical choice for parents and teachers working with children who are at the stage of recognising objects and beginning to read English words. The pages ask nothing of a child beyond holding a crayon, so it suits home use as readily as the classroom, and it can be worked through in any order.
M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd is a long-established Sri Lankan publisher and bookseller, with a substantial list of school and children's titles. The text here is in English.
Because the titles in this series are identical apart from the cover colour, buyers collecting more than one will want to go by colour. This listing is for the brown cover.
