About this experience
Widely recommended as one of the best ways to discover Colombo, this early-morning ride covers around 12 kilometres through a capital brimming with culture, colour and history. Meeting your private guide at Independence Square, you set off at 8am to trace a city once dominated by foreign invaders and now rising with high-rise towers, shopping malls and star-class hotels. Bike, safety gear and cold towels are provided.
Weaving through the streets, you take in the Independence Memorial Hall and its Arcade, the Colombo Race Course, Town Hall, Victoria Park and the Gangarama Temple. The route rolls on past Slave Island, the Grand Oriental Hotel, the Fort Lighthouse, the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct and Galle Face Green — a vivid cross-section of how Sri Lankans have woven history and culture into modern city life.
