Written in Sinhala by Daya De Alwis, this is a short account of family life told from the position of a mother-in-law. The author describes bringing the long-running tension between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in her own household to an end, and sets down what she did and what she learned from it.

Her stated reason for writing is simple: she wanted to share that settled household with other women in the same position. The title translates roughly as "new mothers-in-law", and the book is addressed to them — women who would rather live alongside a son's wife than contend with her.

The text is entirely in Sinhala, with no English translation, so readers will need to be comfortable in the language. It is published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, a long-established Sri Lankan house publishing in Sinhala and English.
