Fra13.39 DKK

A Sinhala-language activity book for young children, built on a simple idea: the letters of the Sinhala alphabet can be turned into drawings. Mangala Premadasa takes the various characters of the script and shows how each one becomes the starting shape for a picture of an animal, so that a child practising letter forms is also learning to draw.

The text is entirely in Sinhala, with no English translation, so a reader will need Sinhala to follow the instructions — though the drawings themselves carry much of the method.

Mangala Premadasa is a voice-imitation artist, able to reproduce sounds he hears. This book is his work for children, published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co.

It will suit Sinhala-speaking families abroad looking for material that keeps children engaged with the script, and parents or teachers who want an early drawing activity tied to letter practice rather than kept separate from it.
