About this experience
Take your seat for the ninth night of the Kandy Esala Perahera and witness the Kumbal Perahera in full spectacle. The procession begins at the Temple of the Tooth, where the Devale Perahera assembles and the emblems on the ransivige — a distinctive dome-like structure — are carried by the Basnayake Nilames, the lay custodians of the Devales. Drummers and dancers lead the way, while flag and canopy bearers, spearmen, and the sacred Ran Ayudha fill the route with colour and sound. Cannon fire marks each key moment: the start of the Devale Perahera, the start of the Dalada Maligawa Perahera, and the close of the night.
Your Lakpura booking includes an entry fee and a private seat, so you watch the 90-minute procession in comfort rather than jostling for a pavement view. Guests must be aged 12 or over to attend.
