Accommodation

The Rainforest Eco Lodge has been designed to preserve and offer a wonderful experience of the natural forest habitat. The eco lodge boasts of 16 comfortable chalets that have been designed and manufactured using recycled material. Guests are offered beautiful views of the surroundings while the chalets are adorned with a range of conveniences to make your stay comfortable and relaxed. Each chalet consists of a bedroom, washroom, living room and private deck while conforming to a world renowned eco tourism concept, they are all architecturally designed using 2 1/2 recycled shipping containers. The containers are perched atop stilts above tea patches while the interiors are adorned with recycled bamboo panelling. The floor and the private deck resemble recycled railway sleepers.

There are many activities and adventures to be enjoyed when holidaying in Sinharaja while a simple walk by the tea estate will also bring out a true natural experience. You will come across butterflies, waterfalls and streams while the atmosphere and environment are ideal for meditation and yoga. Sinharaja is a bird lover’s paradise with over 25 species of endemic birds and others found here. There are various treks that travellers can enjoy while specially designed routes are available with varied altitudes, directions and wildlife.

Location

Located in Deniyaya which is approximately 10km away from the Sinharaja Rain Forest, the Rainforest Ecolodge is a fine abode for travellers looking to spend some quality time in harmony with nature. The distance from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake to the eco lodge is about 235km while the distance from Colombo is approximately 200km. Taxi services or car rentals can be arranged for guests to travel from Colombo or the airport while the location can also be accessed via other parts of the city through the main motorways. The lodge is spread across a 500 acre division of the Enselwatte Tea Estate which borders the South-Eastern area of the Sinharaja Rain Forest.
