There are remnants of the gruesome war which claimed many lives but there are also many places that you can visit. The Nallur Kandasamy Temple which is of walking distance is always a spectacular sight especially during festivities. Other places that you can visit include the Nagadeepa Temple, the Jaffna Market, the Jaffna Library, the Jaffna Fort and the Casuarina beach which is always breathtaking.

The distance from Colombo to Jaffna is about 396km while there are comfortable intercity buses running to and from Colombo on a daily basis. The ride usually takes about 10 - 12 hours from Colombo. However, you can hire a vehicle or rent out one from the International Airport as well.
