About this experience
Your private, 11-hour day trip to Kandy begins with a hotel pickup from Mount Lavinia. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide drives you in an air-conditioned vehicle through the hill country to Sri Lanka's last royal capital. At the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, walk through the ornate shrines and take in the layered architecture that has drawn pilgrims for centuries. Afterwards, step into the workshops of local artisans — gem crafters, woodcarvers, and batik makers — to watch the craft up close and pick up a handmade souvenir.
The tour also takes you to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, home to an exceptional collection of rare and tropical plant life spread across landscaped grounds beside the Mahaweli River. A water bottle is provided per person throughout the day. Note that entrance tickets for the Temple of the Tooth and the Botanical Gardens are not included, nor are meals or gratuities. Lakpura handles all transport and logistics, so you simply enjoy the journey.
