About this experience
Lace up your boots and head to Pattipola, where the trail begins along active rail tracks before plunging into dense jungle. The highlight comes early: you walk the full length of one of Sri Lanka's third-largest railway tunnels, a striking passage where the wet zone at one end gives way to the dry zone at the other. From there, the route climbs through rugged terrain on a strenuous nine-and-a-half-hour private hike, with your English-speaking guide and support staff alongside throughout.
The path winds through the scenic Ohiya area before reaching the border of Horton Plains, one of the island's most distinctive highland landscapes. Lakpura provides lunch, energy slabs, and refreshments on the trail, along with a qualified first-aid officer and a backup vehicle for emergencies. Hotel transfers and transport to the Pattipola trailhead are arranged separately. Minimum age is 12. A solid level of fitness is required.
