Schnüren Sie Ihre Stiefel und machen Sie sich auf den Weg nach Pattipola, wo der Weg entlang aktiver Eisenbahngleise beginnt, bevor er in den dichten Dschungel führt. Das Highlight kommt früh: Sie gehen die volle Länge eines der drittgrößten Eisenbahntunnel Sri Lankas, eine beeindruckende Passage, wo die Feuchtzone an einem Ende in die Trockenzone am anderen übergeht. Von dort aus führt die Route durch raues Gelände auf einer anstrengenden neuneinhalbtündigen privaten Wanderung, mit Ihrem englischsprachigen Guide und Support-Team die ganze Zeit über.
Der Weg windet sich durch die malerische Gegend von Ohiya, bevor er die Grenze von Horton Plains erreicht, eine der markantesten Hochlandlandschaften der Insel. Lakpura stellt Mittagessen, Energieriegel und Erfrischungen auf dem Weg zur Verfügung, zusammen mit einem qualifizierten Erste-Hilfe-Beamten und einem Ersatzfahrzeug für Notfälle. Hoteltransfers und Transport zum Pattipola-Trailhead werden separat arrangiert. Mindestalter ist 12 Jahre. Ein solides Fitnessniveau ist erforderlich.
