About this experience
Travel south from Mount Lavinia in an air-conditioned vehicle with your private English-speaking chauffeur guide. Your first stop is the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, where rescued sea turtles are nursed back to health before being released — a rare, close-up look at one of Sri Lanka's most endangered species. Next, board a boat for a river safari along the Madu Ganga, drifting past mangrove islands and local fishing communities before continuing down the palm-fringed coastal road.
The day ends at Galle Fort, the Dutch-built UNESCO World Heritage Site that crowns the southern tip of the island. Walk the ramparts, explore the colonial-era streets, and browse the boutiques tucked inside the old garrison walls. Hotel pickup and drop-off from Mount Lavinia, a complimentary water bottle per person, and the boat safari are all included. The tour runs for 12 hours, and children aged five and above are welcome.
