A clay pottery session is tactile, relaxing and creative: you learn to shape natural clay into simple pots, bowls or small pieces of art, guided by a local potter.
What you do
- Preparing the clay: learn to knead (wedge) the raw clay to push out air bubbles, so it does not crack or burst when it is fired.
- Wheel throwing: centre wet clay on a spinning potter's wheel and pull up the walls to form a pot or bowl.
- Hand-building: try the traditional techniques of pinching, coiling and slab-building, used for shapes the wheel cannot make.
- Finishing touches: carve patterns, stamp designs or add a handle once the clay has firmed up.
Priced per person. Choose the number of people in your group when you book.
