About this experience
Uw privévoertuig met airconditioning haalt u om 8:00 uur op uit uw hotel in Dambulla voor de anderhalf uur durende rit naar het noorden naar Anuradhapura, een van Sri Lanka's oudste hoofdsteden — waarvan het koninkrijk meer dan een millennium regeerde tot de 10de eeuw. Uw Engelssprekende chauffeur-gids leidt u door Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Sri Maha Bodhi (de heilige ficus die is gegroeid uit een aflegger van de boom waaronder Boeddha verlichting bereikte), het torenhoge Jetavanaramaya, de uitgestrekte ruïnes van Abhayagiri-klooster en Thuparamaya, de eerste stoepa van het eiland. Per persoon worden twee flessen water van 500 ml verstrekt. Toegangskaarten (USD 30 per persoon) en maaltijden zijn voor uw eigen rekening.
Na een lunchpauze om 14:30 uur in een lokaal restaurant brengt een rit van 30 minuten u naar Mihintale — de bergpiek waar de monnik Mahinda koning Devanampiyatissa ontmoette, wat de aankomst van het boeddhisme in Sri Lanka markeerde. U bent rond 17:30 uur terug in uw hotel in Dambulla. Draag comfortabele wandelschoenen. Dit is een privérondleiding; de honoraria van lokale gidsen zijn niet inbegrepen.
