About this experience
Set out from Wadduwa on a full-day private tour that takes in two of the southern coast's most distinctive stops. First, head to Handunugoda Tea Estate — one of Sri Lanka's few tea factories situated close to the shoreline — where your English-speaking chauffeur guide walks you through the production of the estate's celebrated teas, right down to the smell of freshly dried leaves. Lunch at a local restaurant breaks the journey before you continue south.
The afternoon belongs to Galle Fort, the UNESCO-listed Dutch colonial citadel that rises above the Indian Ocean. Walk the broad ramparts, peer down at the crashing surf, and explore the original town streets — churches, warehouses, and merchants' houses still intact after three centuries. Your guide provides context throughout the roughly 10.5-hour day. Hotel pick-up and drop-off, bottled mineral water, and all taxes are included. Entrance fees and gratuities are not. Minimum age is 7.
