Grand Beach Hotel, run by Wijaya Leisure and also listed as Grand Beach Wadduwa, is a beachfront hotel of suites on the coast at Wadduwa, south of Colombo. Returning guests may know the same property by its earlier names, Haridra Resort, Oak Ray Haridra Beach Resort and, most recently, Vendol Resort. Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 75 km from the hotel by road, and the drive around Colombo and down the coast usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. The accommodation is built around suites rather than standard rooms, with Executive Suites, suites with an ocean view and larger suites with a private pool. Wadduwa is a quiet beach town, so most days here are spent on the sand or by the pool. Kalutara, with its riverside Buddhist temple, and Richmond Castle, a colonial-era mansion, are a short drive south, and further along the coast are Bentota's river and water sports, the turtle hatcheries of the south-west coast and the historic fort at Galle.
