Matale Highlands and Cooking Experience from Dambulla

Your private air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your Dambulla hotel and heads into the Matale Highlands for a full 10-hour day. First stop is Nalanda Gedige, a rare fusion of Hindu and Buddhist stone architecture dating back over a thousand years. Next, the Euphoria Spice and Herbal Gardens introduces you to the spices that define Sri Lankan cuisine — your English-speaking chauffeur guide walks you through the plots before a traditional cooking demonstration and a sit-down lunch prepared with the garden's own harvest.

The afternoon moves to Aluvihara, an ancient rock temple carved into dramatic boulders where sacred manuscripts were first committed to writing. You end the day at Sembuwatta Lake, arriving in time for sunset over the reservoir. Hotel pick-up and drop-off, transport, the cooking demo, lunch, and two 500 ml water bottles per person are all included. Entrance tickets to Nalanda Gedige, Aluvihara, and Sembuwatta Lake are paid separately on the day. Minimum age is 7.
