What is the best time of year to visit?
Sri Lanka's southern coast is in its dry season from roughly November through April, when skies are clearest and conditions most settled — generally the most comfortable window for this kind of activity.
Is transport to the lagoon included?
Transport to and from the starting point is not included. You will need to make your own way to Mawella from Tangalle or your accommodation.
What wildlife might I see on the lagoon?
Kingfishers, herons, egrets and cormorants are regularly spotted along the waterline. Water monitors also inhabit the lagoon's edges, and the mangrove vegetation supports a variety of birdlife throughout the day.
