A 500g pack of coconut flour from Ancient Nutra. It is a soft, fine flour made by drying and grinding coconut meat after the milk has been pressed out, and it contains no gluten.
Coconut flour is widely used in Sri Lankan and gluten-free kitchens in place of some or all of the wheat flour in a recipe. It behaves differently from wheat flour, so recipes need adjusting rather than a straight swap.
In the pack
- 500g of coconut flour
How to use
- Coconut flour is thirsty: it soaks up far more liquid than wheat flour, so add extra liquid or eggs, or use less flour
- With no gluten to hold it together, batters and doughs need longer mixing and a short rest before baking
- Use it for pancakes, flatbreads, muffins and cakes, or to thicken soups and sauces
- Many bakers start by replacing a quarter of the wheat flour with coconut flour
Storage
Reseal the pack after opening and keep it in a cool, dry place.
Ancient Nutra is a Sri Lankan brand, founded in 2015.
