Question 1

How long is the Cinnamon Air flight from Colombo to Galle?

Accepted Answer

The seaplane lands at Koggala, near Galle, and the flight from Colombo's Beira Lake terminal takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes. The equivalent road journey along the Southern Expressway typically takes around two hours, and via the coastal road it can exceed four hours in traffic.

Question 2

Where does Cinnamon Air depart from in Colombo?

Accepted Answer

Colombo departures operate from the Waterhut terminal on Beira Lake in Colombo 2. It is a small, dedicated seaplane facility separate from Bandaranaike International Airport. Passengers should arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Question 3

Can I take a large suitcase on a Cinnamon Air seaplane?

Accepted Answer

The Cessna Caravan aircraft has very limited cargo space, so hard-shell suitcases and oversized bags are generally not accepted. Most operators allow around 10 to 15 kg of soft luggage per passenger. If you are travelling with bulky luggage, arranging a separate road transfer for your bags is a practical solution.

Question 4

Does Cinnamon Air fly to Trincomalee?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Trincomalee is one of the key destinations on the Cinnamon Air network. The flight reduces what is typically a five- to six-hour road journey from Colombo to around one hour, and the approach along the east coast provides excellent aerial views.

Question 5

Can Cinnamon Air flights be cancelled due to weather?

Accepted Answer

As with any light aircraft operation, Cinnamon Air flights are subject to weather-related delays and cancellations when visibility or conditions fall below safe operating limits. The operator contacts passengers directly if a flight is affected, and rebooking is handled on a case-by-case basis. Travel insurance that covers flight disruption is advisable.

Question 6

Is Cinnamon Air suitable for a honeymoon transfer?

Accepted Answer

A seaplane arrival or departure is a popular choice for honeymooners visiting Sri Lanka's south or east coast. The low-altitude flight over the coastline is memorable in itself, and private charters can be arranged for a more exclusive experience. Several luxury properties along the coast are positioned within easy reach of Cinnamon Air landing points.

Question 7

How do I arrange a hotel transfer after my Cinnamon Air flight?

Accepted Answer

Pre-booking a private vehicle from the seaplane jetty is strongly recommended, as landing points can be located away from town centres where taxis are scarce. Lakpura arranges timed transfers from all major Cinnamon Air destinations to hotels across Sri Lanka, coordinating departure with the confirmed arrival time of each flight.

Question 8

Does Cinnamon Air offer private charter flights?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Cinnamon Air accepts charter bookings for private groups, corporate travel, and special occasions. Charters can access additional water-landing locations beyond the standard scheduled network, subject to operational clearance. Enquire directly with Cinnamon Air or through a licensed Sri Lankan DMC such as Lakpura for charter quotations.
