Padeniya Temple, Sri Lanka
Padeniya Buddhist temple of Kandyan Period is similar to famous Embekka Devale of Kandy in terms of the woodcarvings: wrestlers, animals, female figures. The raised plinth, filled with sand and leveled for writing of script was a instrument to teach the students at the temple. Among the ruins are four octagonal stone pillars from the ancient stupa.
