Its creation came with a major transformation of the local landscape—the old Maskeliya town was submerged, along with areas of valuable tea-growing land. ▶️Gateway to Sri Pada – Adam’s Peak One of the biggest reasons travelers pass through Maskeliya is its proximity to Sri Pada, also widely known as Adam’s Peak. Revered by different religious traditions, this iconic mountain attracts huge numbers of pilgrims each year. Among its several climbing routes, the trail beginning from Nallathanniya is one of the most popular.
