Bawa House 87 Location

Bawa House 87 is located in the beautiful coastal town of Bentota in the South Western Province of the island in a well protected 17 acre enclave which is filled with jungle gardens, a lake and marshlands. This retreat is about a 3 hour drive away from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake. Bentota can be reached via the Colombo-Galle main motorway as well as the Colombo - Galle - Matara southern railway line.
Bawa House 87 Accommodation

Bawa House 87 is a masterpiece of one of Sri Lanka's renowned architects', Geoffrey Bawa, who the property is named after, offers a magical experience with three hidden pavilions with breath-taking views.

"The Pavilion" is the largest of the three bungalows offered at the Bawa House 87 and it houses the two main bedrooms on the ground floor which is separated by a central hall. The bed rooms have en-suite bathrooms, a comfortable lounging space, an intimate and private dining area as well as king-sized beds with mosquito nets.

"The Shophouse" is the bungalow that houses the kitchen, an indoor dining room and two standard bedrooms. There is also a lake view oriented veranda seating space and an outdoor dining area where guests can enjoy an al fresco experience.

The "Artist's Bar" is the smallest of the three bungalows and it houses a cosy air-conditioned bar and an adjacent outdoor seating area. This entirely offers guests space to enjoy their evenings with music and drinks mingling with close friends and family.

Dining facilities at the Bawa House 87 is a pleasure to your body and soul. The in-house cook prepares simple meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner which are based entirely on local cuisine and selected western favourites. Guests have the option of choosing to dine indoors or outdoors depending on the time of day and of course the weather patterns. Guests can inform the management of any dietary restrictions upon confirmation of your booking.

The lap pool is found in a shaded grove of frangipani trees and is often covered with petals. Soft drinks and refreshing juices are available upon request while liquor should be purchased at the airport or along the way. Wine can be pre-ordered and have it ready upon arrival. A wine list can be made available to the guests.

The marshlands that surround the Bawa House 87 is a preserved sanctuary with rare leaf monkeys, kingfishers, orioles, eagles, rabbits, parrots, flying foxes, Asian otters and turtles. A path winds through rare shrubs and trees where guests can discover Bawa's inspired creations - a sphinx, a surprising sculpture, a ruined chapel and unexpected little clearings from which you can enjoy undisturbed views and clear air.
