Galle Fort Hotel Location

Galle Fort Hotel is located in Church Street, within the famous Fort in Galle, which is a seaport city in the Southern Province approximately 116km away from Colombo. The city is the regional transportation hub while guests can take the Colombo-Galle main road or the southern railway. Galle also has a main bus terminal where commuters have the opportunity to travel to the North, further south and also the central province.

Garden Rooms - There are three Garden Rooms that are air-conditioned and includes a modern king size four-poster bed, luxurious white cotton sheets and a canopied mosquito net. These rooms are comfortably set for two guests. Beyond double French doors, guests will find a tiny private garden and wall fountain, while the poolside veranda provides a comfortable daybed overlooking the hotel courtyard and garden. The Gallery bathroom consists of a shower, Grohe taps and Italian fittings.

Loft Suites - These double storey fully air-conditioned suites are more like small villas and include a romantic loft bedroom overlooking the garden and pool from the antique four poster bed. The suite consists of an elegant and comfortably furnished with antique almaris, long cushioned settees and a round and antique dining table. A large veranda which is furnished in colonial style furniture has views of the garden, pool and grand colonnade. A six metre atrium rises above the staircases opened onto a light filled inner courtyard framed with fan palms and a panel of ancient tiles.

The Porcelain Suite - This suite is fully air-conditioned and has a twenty foot ceiling and its own separate dressing/bathroom. The towering bedroom walls feature porcelain decor imported by the Chinese to Galle. The suite also includes an antique four poster bed and cabinet. The monumental Dutch windows and shutters open onto a spectacular columned walkway which frames the courtyard, garden and swimming pool.

The Admiral Cheng Ho Suite - In commemoration of the visit of Admiral Cheng Ho to Galle in 1406, this spacious double storey suite has a 36 foot ceiling and is adorned with Chinese and South East Asian antique fittings. The suite has accommodation on two levels comprising of a double bed upstairs and an antique Chinese opium bed downstairs. There are two air-conditioners. The two storey outdoor bathroom has 36 foot columns and a huge elevated waterfall shower. A Chippendale-style staircase leads to a screen made from rare antique columns providing privacy from the living area below.
