Sigiriya is mainly famous for its Rock Fortress which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace ruins on top of the rock, the stone carved stairways, frescos of a bygone era and the magnificent waterways within the gardens, the rock fortress is indeed a place that you should visit. The Sigiriya Handcraft Village offers you traditional handicrafts from leather products to pottery and even products made of coconut shells. One day excursions can be made to the Dambulla Cave Temple, the Minneriya National Park and even the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.
Set within sight of the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the Kumbukgaha Villa is found in the quiet and rural area which is also about 30 minutes away from the Dambulla Cave Temple. Surrounded by a forest reserve, farm lands and paddy fields the villa is set on ten acres of private land with a natural stream flowing through. Sigiriya is located approximately 169km away from Colombo while it can be reached via the main roads from Colombo and Kandy. Sigiriya is however not connected by rail.
Loved this place, the staff were genuine, the food was amazing. The villa was beautiful . My husband was unwell and they were very helpful The pool is lovely and staff extremely attentive
Large, comfortable rooms perfect for families as have interconnecting living areas. We loved the outside bathrooms, which meant showering under the stars (and with a frog or two). The staff could not have been more attentive.
