The slender loris gets its name from its thin arms and legs. It has large, round brown eyes that stand out and a short second digit and a toe that they use to grasp branches. They are mainly found in the tropical rainforests and inter-monsoon forests of Sri Lanka. Their habitat is crucial for their survival, providing cover from predators and finding sources of food. Their diet consists of insects, fruits, gums, nectar, and sometimes leaves.
Unfortunately, slender lorises are threatened by habitat loss, road kill, and hunting for the pet trade, traditional medicine, and superstitions.
