Question 1

Which trains stop at Boossa Railway Station?

Accepted Answer

Boossa is a stopping point for local and semi-express services on the Coast Line. Around 22 trains per day call here in both directions, running between Colombo Fort and Matara. Faster intercity expresses may bypass Boossa, so check the timetable carefully before you travel.

Question 2

How far is Boossa Station from Galle Fort?

Accepted Answer

Boossa Station is roughly 5–8 km from the centre of Galle Fort. A tuk-tuk ride takes around 10–15 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively you can continue one or two stops on the train to Ginthota or Galle station, which puts you even closer to the fort.

Question 3

How long does the train from Colombo to Boossa take?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the class of service and number of stops, the journey typically takes between two and three hours. Slower all-stations trains take longer; semi-express services are faster but may not stop at Boossa.

Question 4

What are the neighbouring stations to Boossa on the Coast Line?

Accepted Answer

Rathgama is the next station toward Colombo, and Ginthota is the next station in the direction of Galle and Matara. Both are very short distances away on the same line.

Question 5

Is there parking or a tuk-tuk at Boossa Station?

Accepted Answer

Tuk-tuks are generally available outside the station during train arrival times. Limited informal parking exists near the station for private vehicles. There are no formal facilities such as a car park or left-luggage office at this small station.

Question 6

Can I get from Boossa to Udawalawe National Park by train?

Accepted Answer

There is no direct rail connection to Udawalawe. The most practical option is to travel by private vehicle or hired taxi from Boossa or Galle, a journey of roughly two to two-and-a-half hours through the Southern hills. Train travel gets you as far as the coast; the interior requires road transport.

Question 7

Is Boossa Station close to any beaches?

Accepted Answer

The coastline near Boossa is close to the Galle lagoon system rather than open sandy beaches. Hikkaduwa's reef beach is a short train or tuk-tuk ride to the north, while Unawatuna beach — one of the South's most popular — is a few kilometres to the south of Galle Fort.
