About this experience
Board a private boat at Kalpitiya and head out into the open sea, where spinner and bottlenose dolphins gather in pods that can number in the hundreds — sometimes thousands. Departures begin at 07:30 each morning, and the dolphins are typically spotted within half an hour of leaving shore. Up to six guests share the boat, all safety gear is provided, and a naturalist joins on a first-come, first-served basis to help you identify species and behaviour. The season runs from November to March, when calmer seas make conditions ideal.
This is a private excursion lasting one hour, with no minimum age below five years. Food and drinks are not included, so bring your own refreshments for the early start. Group departures run daily, and private group bookings can be arranged through Lakpura. Note that all trips are subject to weather conditions.
