About this experience
Step into a shared 4WD safari jeep — maximum six passengers — and head into Bundala Biosphere Reserve, a Ramsar-listed wetland in Sri Lanka's Southern Province. Over three hours, your experienced driver-tracker guides you through swampy marshes home to nearly 200 bird species, including 58 migratory visitors. Between May and July the park pulses with nesting activity, but year-round you can spot flamingos, painted storks, and a kaleidoscope of 52 butterfly species alongside 32 mammals and 48 reptiles. A one-litre water bottle is provided, and free pickup and drop-off is included for any location within 5 km of the park gate.
Bring binoculars and a camera — Bundala rewards patience. The park's 400-plus plant species create dense, layered habitats that shelter amphibians, fish, and rare fauna at every turn. Park entrance tickets are not included in the price, and food, drinks, and gratuities remain your own expense. Lakpura operates this safari in English, with all taxes and service charges covered.
