About this experience
Board your air-conditioned vehicle in Wadduwa and spend eight hours exploring three distinct highlights along Sri Lanka's south-western coast. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide leads you first to Lunuganga, the landscaped country estate of the late architect Sir Geoffrey Bawa — a tranquil garden retreat where art and nature intertwine. From there, head inland to the Meetiyagoda Moonstones Mines, where you can watch workers extract Sri Lanka's signature gemstones straight from the earth.
The day ends on the water at Balapitiya, where you board a boat for a safari through the Madu River's mangrove channels. Keep an eye out for water monitors, bird species, and cinnamon island communities as you glide through the lagoon. A water bottle is provided per person, and your guide handles all logistics. Note that the Lunuganga Estate entrance ticket is not included and should be budgeted separately. Minimum age for this private tour is seven years.
