About this experience
Your Lakpura guide collects you from your Bentota hotel and heads south along Sri Lanka's coast for a packed ten-hour private day tour. First stop is Balapitiya, where you board a boat and glide down the Madu River through cathedral-like mangrove tunnels. Keep watch for crocodiles and water monitors along the banks, step ashore on one of the river islands to see cinnamon harvested by hand, and finish the safari with a visit to the fish spa. Entrance fees and one litre of bottled water per person are included throughout.
After a lunch break at your own expense, continue to the Handunugoda tea estate to learn how its celebrated Virgin White Tea is produced. In Ahangama, local fishermen demonstrate traditional stilt fishing — perched on poles above the surf, they're happy to explain the technique. The day ends inside the Galle Fort, a UNESCO-listed fortification where cobblestone lanes connect the Maritime Museum, the Galle National Museum, and the colonial lighthouse. Drop-off at your hotel rounds out the tour.
