Balapitiya, Sri Lanka

Balapitiya is a fishing village in the south-western coastal belt of Sri Lanka. Balapitiya is 8km south of Kosgoda, and 5km north of Ambalangaoda, the village of handicrafts and masks carved of wood. Balapitiya is the favored starting point for boat safaris along the Madu Ganga. Along the stretch river Madu Ganga begining at Balapitiya are 64 islands rich with bird life.
