Khomba House Location
Situated a 2 hours drive away, North of the International Airport in Sri Lanka on the west coast of the island, Khomba House is a one of a kind privately owned property.
Developed in partnership with the Bar Reef Hotel in Alankuda which is one of the best tourism developments in the area, this is located within the two kilometre beach stretch with its golden sand and crystal clear waters. Transport from the airport can be arranged prior to your arrival in Sri Lanka.
Khomba House Accommodation
Khomba House which is set about 150 meters away from the waters edge was designed by a young Sri Lankan architect and fully completed in 2009. Offering you the best in privacy and facilities, the villa is designed on an open plan basis with high ceilings, fans, polished floors and overhanging eaves to bring in the beach feeling.

Khomba House comprises of two separate bedrooms and includes their own en-suite facilities. Adjoining the first bedroom is a sitting room with three further day beds. Every room has amazing views of the surroundings where you can enjoy the local folklore.
Khomba House Facilities
The main veranda stretched along the west side of the building offers you views over the Indian Ocean. Khomba House is staffed by a full time cook and gardener. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner along with fresh juices and soft drinks. All meals are served in the dining room of the house while you can also roam around the Alankuda stretch and mingle about.

The property is set in six acres of old coconut plantations and within 300 meters of the Bar Reef Resort in Alankuda. The Bar Reef management is responsible for the day to day running of Khomba House while all guests are given the opportunity to use their facilities as well which includes the swimming pool. By the beach, there's a beach hut where you can enjoy a cool drink under the sun.
Khomba House Excursions
Guests of Khomba House can enjoy the daily complimentary dolphin and whale watching trips which is on a first come first served basis. The sea which adjoins the reef is quite unique and includes a rich array of these amazing and gigantic mammals. You can see these sea creatures in vast numbers in the surrounding seas.

The local town is a short drive away while a minibus can be rented for a quick tour to the local game park or the cultural triangle. The rides are a bit rough but the ancient cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and Dambulla are quite awe striking and all worth the visit. Canoes and sailing dinghies can be arranged through the boat house of the adjoining Bar Reef Resort while snorkelling in the nearby reef and fishing trips can also be arranged.
During the months of March to June, the sea will be rough and this period will be unsuitable for swimming while due to strong monsoon winds Khomba House in unsuitable from July to October.
