Sri Mathie Villa offers a particular kind of tranquility — the Sri Lankan style found at a well-established plantation house set at the heart of a working farm. The villa is an ancestral Sri Lankan house, refurbished by its present Canadian owner, Mr. David Clarke. Original Sri Lankan architecture is preserved throughout, lending the interiors an unhurried, homely character that complements the natural setting. It is described as a very private and quiet place — one suited to nature lovers and those seeking solitude, rather than travellers wanting constant activity on their doorstep. That said, markets, shops, and popular attractions are well within reach. Unawatuna Beach and Galle Fort are both close by, and the beach itself is less than 20 minutes away by various means of transport, including bicycles.

Accommodation

Sri Mathie Villa offers three double bedrooms. The first room has an attached bathroom, while the remaining two rooms share a common bathroom — an arrangement in keeping with the traditional character of the house.

The villa's resident chef prepares meals in a state-of-the-art kitchen according to each guest's preference. Beyond the dining table, a large snooker table and a high-powered telescope provide evening entertainment, while a set of bicycles invites guests to explore the surrounding lanes and countryside at their own pace.
