Mas Villa is an exquisite colonial residence nestled in the historic Kothmale Valley, enjoying one of the most sublime views in Sri Lanka's hill country. Situated amidst terraced paddy fields and verdant mountain ranges filled with jungles and ancient temples, this five-bedroom property exudes a personal charm within a setting of refined elegance.

Approximately four hours' drive from Colombo, Mas Villa is centrally located between the two hill country giants of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, making it an ideal base from which to conduct day trips to either city.

Accommodation

The ground floor houses three deluxe double rooms and one superior double room — Sanderiana, Heliconia, Calathea and Dracaena — each named after the acres of foliage that surround the house. Decorated in shades of cream, burgundy and brown, these rooms offer guests a sense of quiet luxury.

The majestic Cordyline Suite occupies the entire first floor, featuring a 20-foot-high ceiling, wooden floorboards, a Jacuzzi, a separate shower room and numerous French windows overlooking the panoramic valley. It is, in every sense, a room with a view.

Facilities

Mas Villa is well equipped for both relaxation and recreation. Guests have access to a swimming pool, spa, in-house gym, badminton and croquet courts, cable television, a library, board games and internet access. Alfresco dining and airport transfers are also available.

Excursions

The surrounding Kothmale Valley offers a rich variety of experiences. Active guests can enjoy hiking, bird watching, mountain biking and golfing excursions to Nuwara Eliya or Digana. Day trips to Kandy, Pinnawala or Nuwara Eliya are popular choices from the villa.

Cultural excursions within Kothmale itself are particularly rewarding. Visitors can discover the waterfalls of Gerandi Ella, Ramboda Ella and others, tour the tea plantation at Lambukelle, and view the Kothmale Reservoir. The area also holds deep historical significance as the region where Dutugemunu, one of the best-loved kings of the country, is said to have lived and worked during his years in exile. Remarkable temples, from Kothmale Maha Seya to Pussulpitiya Temple, further enrich any visit to the valley.
