Step into a private jeep and head into Kalawewa National Park — home to the highest concentration of tusker elephants in Sri Lanka. Tuskers are extraordinarily rare among Sri Lankan elephants, and a genetic quirk unique to this area means the park harbours over 15 of them, many carrying impressive, fully mature tusks. Over three hours, your experienced driver-tracker guides you through Kumbuk woodland where giant flocks of Open-billed Storks wheel overhead, and elephant herds roam freely during migration season. Stay seated in the jeep, particularly near lone bulls or large herds, and follow your guide's instructions at all times.
Your private safari seats up to six passengers and includes a 1-litre water bottle per person, plus complimentary pickup and drop-off from any point within 5 km of the park gate. Park entrance tickets, food, and gratuities are not included. Lakpura arranges all logistics so you arrive ready to watch one of Sri Lanka's most remarkable wildlife spectacles unfold around you.
