Sri Lanka, in all meanings of the words, is a tropical paradise. Lush wet zone greenery, evergreen wooded forests of dry zone are home to wildlife parks and nature reserves. Sinharaja rain forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the southern wet zone of Sri Lanka and Horton Plains Nature reserve, another UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Central highlands of such sharp contrasts, for a moment you would wonder whether you are in the same tropical island. Then again beaches in the south-wetern coast of Sri Lanka, are backed by thick groves of lush coconut palms, beaches in the eastern coast of Sri Lanka is fringed mostly by Thal palm trees while interspersed with coconut palm trees.
The north central dry plains with evergreen wooded jungles are home to 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and Dambulla, each one is of great cultural significance and at variance with each other.
