From its elevated position overlooking Seenimodera beach, the villa's vast bedrooms and open plan living benefit from the constant breezes coming from the Indian Ocean below. Hidden from view, the villa, constructed entirely of teak - one of Sri Lanka's sustainable hardwoods - is relaxed and incredibly comfortable. Lying in one of the seven foot, four poster beds, wreathed in fine white mosquito nets, you can see and hear the constant rhythm of the Indian Ocean.

Planted with an exotic collection of wonderful tropical flora, The Teak House garden has become a haven for a stunning collection of tropical birds. Woodpecker, peacocks, birds of paradise, kingfisher and the busy 'chit chat' birds luxuriate in its lush profusion. Sea eagles hover above and, as dusk falls and a dark tropical night descends, fireflies light up the sky.

Renowned as one of the Sri Lanka's most picturesque and unspoilt sandy beaches, Seenimodera offers safe swimming all year round and incomparable walking. Stroll across to neighbouring Mahawella beach, a horseshoe shaped bay of over 3 km, long celebrated by CN Traveller magazine.

Whilst tempting to do little other than swing in a hammock or lounge on a sun chair, you are ideally placed to explore Tangalle's wild stretch of coastline and visit a selection of wildlife parks, historical towns and temples.
Teak House Location
The Teak House is located in Tangalle, some 190 km south from Colombo. Moments before the 191km marker on the Galle Road and directly opposite the gates to Seenimodera temple, take a right turn onto a dirt road on the sea side. At the end of the road on the right hand side, you will find The Teak House.
Teak House Accommodation
The Teak House - boutique style luxury Seven foot, luxury four poster beds are the centrepiece of each of the vast bedrooms. Swathed in fine white mosquito nets and boasting the finest linen, the beds ensure that sleep will never elude you at The Teak House.

High ceilings and open shutters maximise the breeze flowing from the Indian Ocean below. As waves crash on the beach, you are lulled into the most glorious slumber. Ceiling fans are rarely required.

Each room benefits from an ensuite shower room complete with polished cement walls and endless hot water.

Additional single beds and mosquito nets are available for extra guests or children.

With fresh tropical fruit and a wide variety of seafood straight from the Indian Ocean, food is a delight at The Teak House. Panfried fillets of freshly caught seer fish with capers is just one of the dishes that will tantalise your palate.

Our house curries are renowned -- you can choose from a myriad of ingredients. Prawns from the Indian Ocean and the lagoon, banana flower, gourds, breadfruit are just for starters. Be adventurous, go to the market and see what is on offer, grown within a short distance of Tangalle or up in the cooler climes of the hill country.
