Aukana Buddha Statue
The village of Aukana is located 30km northwest of Dambulla. Aukana is home to one of the most loved rock cut ancient Buddha Statues of Sri Lanka. The magnificent 12 meter high standing Aukana Buddha Statue has inspired the modern sculptors of Sri Lanka to create similar statues all over the ancient island of Sri Lanka.
Aukana Buddha Statue is carved in the round while supporting it by connecting to the rock wall off which it is carved out.
