Location:Approximately about a 5 minute drive away from the Udawalawe National Park in Walawegama is Kalu's Hideaway which borders the Udawalawe reservoir. A place that is surrounded by nature, this hotel is built on a five acre land area which is maintained well by the hotel staff and owners. Udawalawe is located approximately 146km away from Colombo.
Accommodation:Kalu's Hideaway is an eco friendly retreat and consists of five modern and spacious rooms which are in total harmony with nature. These rooms include en-suite toilets while they belong to the main building. There is also a private upper deck suite and two separate chalets. All guestrooms are furnished with creative wooden furniture, mosquito nets, ceiling fans and also air-conditioning if required. The upper floor that includes a double room consists of a private patio and overlooks the breathtaking surroundings of the hotel.
Facilities:The main restaurant at Kalu's Hideaway serves guests a combination of Eastern and Western delights along with an all day a la carte menu. You can enjoy views of a paddy field while also enjoy succulent BBQ's in the night. Closer to the restaurant, there is a Japanese style TV room in the lobby area where you can relax. The property also consists of an outdoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi. With all natural surroundings, there is also a river flowing by the hotel making it an ideal spot for camping.
Excursions:Kalu's Hideaway is famed to be a perfect drop by for travellers who are on their way to Yala or Kataragama. We can organize Udawalawe Safari Jeep Excursions to many locations that are found in the nearby vicinity of the hotel. You can spot herds of wild elephants at the Udawalawe National Park while other places of interests include the Maduwanwela Walauwwa which is a residence of a former nobleman in the area and the Wawulpane cave with a distinct bat population.
