Ulpotha offers a one-of-a-kind experience, inviting guests to unwind, embrace a slower pace of life, and immerse themselves in a harmonious blend of nature, wellness, and genuine community living.
Location:
Located amidst breathtaking natural beauty, Ulpotha is enveloped by a lotus-ringed lake on one side and lush, emerald green paddy fields on the other. Its secluded location provides a safe and tranquil environment for guests to reconnect with nature.
Accommodation:
The retreat features 11 charming adobe guest huts constructed using traditional wattle and daub techniques. Each hut offers comfortable beds with mosquito nets, cupboards, fresh water, towels, and a complimentary sarong. These open and airy huts are hand-painted twice a year using natural-colored clays, showcasing a blend of modern comfort and traditional village aesthetics. To maintain the Sri Lankan village tradition, toilet spaces are kept separate from living areas.
Facilities:
Ulpotha operates without electricity, creating an enchanting ambiance illuminated by lamps and firelight. The absence of modern amenities fosters a sense of community among guests, encouraging connections reminiscent of shared oral traditions. Meals, which are almost entirely vegan and naturally gluten-free, are prepared using fresh, unrefrigerated produce cooked in terracotta pots over open fires. The inclusive package covers accommodation, meals, snacks, drinks, yoga classes, a massage per week's stay, guided forest walks, excursions, and the use of bicycles, hot water bathing areas, and laundry services.
Excursions:Guests can partake in two daily yoga classes and indulge in a massage per week's stay. Guided forest walks and excursions, organized and transported by the retreat, offer opportunities to explore the surrounding natural beauty and cultural sites. However, Ayurveda treatments are optional and not included in the retreat package.
