About this experience

Over two days, this tour takes you deep into northern-central Sri Lanka, pairing raw wilderness with ancient sacred sites. On day one, your jeep rolls into Wilpattu National Park — Sri Lanka's largest forest reserve — where you scan the dense scrub and natural lakes, known as villus, for leopards, sloth bears, elephants, and spotted deer. Wilpattu holds one of the highest densities of leopards in the world, so keep your camera ready at every clearing.

Day two brings you into Anuradhapura, one of Asia's oldest continuously inhabited cities, whose dagobas and sacred Bo Tree trace a living history back to the 10th century AD. You then climb Mihintale Rock, the very site where Buddhism first took root in Sri Lanka — a short but rewarding ascent that rewards you with sweeping views and centuries of quiet significance. Lakpura organises the full two-day journey from Hikkaduwa.
