About this experience
Board a private vehicle in Hikkaduwa and head north into Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle on this two-day tour of the island's most significant ancient sites. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide leads you through the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved into rock as far back as the 1st Century BC, then up the steep granite flanks of Sigiriya Lion Rock — the 5th-Century fortress-palace of King Kasyapa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Parking, highway tolls, and two 500 ml water bottles per person each day are all taken care of.
On day two, explore the ruined city of Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO-listed royal capital whose monuments trace Sri Lanka's medieval civilisation back to the 10th Century AD. Round off the tour with a wildlife safari in Minneriya National Park. Hotel accommodation, meals, and entrance fees to each site are not included, so budget for those separately. All taxes and service charges are covered by Lakpura.
