Weherahena Temple, Sri Lanka

Weherahena Buddhist Temple, Sri Lanka is a culture attraction close to Matara in the southern coast. The present temple was built in the 1990s over a underground temple built and hidden from the Portuguese from destruction in the 17th century.
One of the largest Buddha statues in Sri Lanka is seated in samadhi position in front of the story high (39 meters) temple.
