Sri Lanka's beaches tropical in character are of great beauty. The main tourist season for the south-western and southern beaches are the period spanning from November to April.
The secondary season, i.e. for the beaches in the eastern coast, is April to September. That makes the little tropical island of Sri Lanka good to go in anytime of the year.
Though hill country too is good to visit any time of the year, the best time to visit Central Highlands of Sri Lanka studded with British colonial hill stations is during January to April when all plants and trees blooming with colorful flowers all over the hills and valleys.
The southeast and northern plains, the driest areas of the island too can be visited in any period of the year though November to January is the period of heavy rains. Then again, during the heavy rains, the views of great man-man ancient renovated rain water reservoirs that irrigate the island to date, with waters at the higher levels are sights to behold.
