About Puranagama Eco Lodge, TangallePuranagama Eco Lodge in Tangalle, a small village of clay houses, build in the traditional Sri Lankan way. After the Tsunami 2004 the construction of the houses started to offer you this unique Eco Lodge experience. The basis of the houses are made of wooden sticks and the walls a clay mixture. The roof is coverd with palm leaves or coconut mats and straw. This construction method creates a special climat in the house and brings a pleasant coolness on hot days.

The Main House "Maha Gedara".
In the centre of Puranagama is the main house, in Singhalese "Maha Gedara". It is the longest mudbrick building in the settlement. It has two single rooms , each room has a double-bed or two single beds. It's perfect for single travellers or couples who search for a cheap accomodation.
The Kohombe Haus is close to the main house and is named after the Kohombe tree, that grows next to the house. The tree is very useful and one of the most used plants in aryuverdic medicine.You can enjoy your vavaction and relax in the second house, next to the lagoon house.

You can watch lot's of different species of birds in Puranagama at different places at the lagoon, on the tree house, in the magrove forest and at the sea In the early morning and in the evening the lagoon is the best place when thousands of egrets, pelicans etc return to their sleeping place or leave it. You can also watch lots of smaller species at any time.
